About
A small daily conversation can change the way you feel.
We're building pennytalk because the gap between needing support and finding it is too wide. Most of what we're working through happens between sessions — or without ever finding a session at all.
Why we're building this
The space between sessions.
Therapy, when it's available, tends to be once a week. Life happens the other six days. The 2am spiral, the small disappointment that won't leave, the conversation you keep rehearsing — most of the work is there, and most of us are doing it alone.
pennytalk is a thoughtful, calm place to bring those moments. It won't solve your life. But over time, in small pieces, it can help you understand what you're feeling, name what you're carrying, and notice the patterns you keep coming back to.
Designed with clinicians
Therapeutic thinking, built in.
pennytalk is designed in collaboration with therapists, psychiatrists, and psychologists. The modalities Penny draws on — CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness, psychodynamic, somatic, motivational interviewing — are shaped by clinical input, not just internet patterns. She won't replace a therapist, but she's built by people who understand what a good therapeutic conversation looks like.
How we think about safety
Calm doesn't mean careless.
Mental health products fail when they pretend an AI can do what a clinician does. Penny doesn't diagnose, prescribe, or treat — and she never will. What she can do is hold a thoughtful conversation, surface evidence-based techniques, and recognize when a moment needs more than a chat.
High-risk moments are routed through a deterministic safety layer — not a language model — so the response is immediate and predictable. The right resources show up first, every time.
How we think about privacy
Your conversations are yours.
What you share with Penny stays between you and Penny. We don't sell your data, we don't train models on your messages, and we don't share your conversations with anyone you haven't explicitly invited. Encrypted in transit and at rest, accessible only to you.
